Faisao ignoring manamko’

“It  is very disappointing that he never replied to our letter. We respect him but he is ignoring us,” she said.

Sorroza informed Faisao about the many incidents at the Aging Center involving the “violent actions” of Felix Flawau, a former advisory council president.

She said Faisao has to reply to their letter, otherwise “he is not doing his job.”

Although, the conflict among the congregates has  already subsided, Sorroza said she is planning to send another letter to Faisao.

Some congregates said Faisao is micro-managing the aging center.

Faisao has refused to act on the recommendation of the council to suspend Flawau.

Instead, he told Aging Office Director Rose DLG Mondala that the council does not have any legal authority to suspend any participants of the center’s programs.

Sorroza, in her letter, told Faisao that disciplinary action is needed to ensure that Flawau will not further upset the peace and order at the center.

After the incident, two officers left the council:  Nancy Nannay, the secretary and Rosario Ibanez, the treasurer.

Other officers have also threatened to resign.

Ibanez, however, has to resign because she is not a CNMI resident and cannot be a member of the council. She was replaced by Christiana Michael.

Sorroza didn’t say why Nannay resigned from the council.

She said the council is now working to amend its by-laws to allow the manamko’ to participate  in the center’s policy-making decisions.
