The CCP is “the founding and sole governing political party of the People’s Republic of China.”
Xuankun Li, who is coordinating the motorcade, told Variety that their group will ask the Department of Public Safety to allow Falun Dafa to hold a peaceful motorcade every Saturday and Sunday from Nov. 14 to Jan. 3, 2021.
Li said the motorcade will start at American Memorial Park and will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
On Saturdays, the motorcade route will include Beach Road, As Gonno Road, Airport Road, Dandan, San Vicente then back to Middle Road, and the Falun Dafa office across from the Bank of Saipan in Garapan.
On Sundays, the motorcade will head to Koblerville then to As Lito Road going to the Shell gas station intersection before proceeding to Middle Road and then back to Garapan.
“We are trying to raise awareness about the CCP, and call for the end of its regime in China,” Li said.
He said their group has also been going around the community to solicit signatures for a petition expressing support for Falun Dafa, which is also known as Falun Gong.
He added that they will not proceed with their weekly protest without a permit from DPS.
Falun Dafa/Falun Gong was founded in China in 1992. Its members practice special exercises and meditation to “refine the body and the mind.”
But after it participated in a silent, nonviolent protest in 1999 against the Chinese government’s persecution of spiritual movements, Falun Dafa/Falun Gong was branded by the Chinese government as an organization that sought to topple the CCP.
Since then, hundreds of thousands of Falun Dafa/Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested, detained and tortured by the Chinese government, the Falun Dafa Association said.
It added, “Almost 5,000 are confirmed dead as a result of the persecution, with many times that number killed in organ harvesting atrocities.”
Li said they currently have 40 members/practitioners on Saipan.
