The Honolulu-based agent recently posted a video message on the FBI website urging the public to be wary of Covid-19-related scams.
“As we increase activity online for work and study, criminals are already targeting their next victim,” Miranda said. “Don’t let them.”
Miranda urged the public to be wary of websites and apps claiming to track Covid-19 cases worldwide.
“Look out for emails asking you to verify your personal information in order to receive an economic stimulus check from the government,” Miranda said.
“Be cautious of anyone selling products that claim to prevent, treat or cure Covid-19.”
Miranda said FBI operations will “continue unabated.”
“The mission of protecting the American people, and upholding the Constitution is too important,” he added. “And we will never stop.”
