On Saturday, Guam Chief Judge Frances M. Tydingco-Gatewood administered the oath of office to the former Superior Court judge.
The U.S. Senate confirmed Manglona’s nomination last July 26 and received her commission from President Obama on July 29.
Yesterday, Manglona was escorted by clerk of court Galo L. Perez, and introduced to the district court staffers.
Chief deputy clerk William J. Bezzant told Variety that Manglona had an orientation throughout the day.
He said there are still two visiting U.S. judges who have been scheduled this month and for September before Manglona was confirmed to the federal bench.
Bezzant said Manglona will be attending the 9th Circuit Judicial Conference this month.
A public judicial investiture ceremony for the new federal judge will be held at a later date, Variety learned.
Manglona is the first female and first Chamorro judge for the U.S. District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands. Her appointment is for a term of 10 years.
She was preceded by Chief Judge Alex R. Munson, who served for over 20 years.
A former assistant attorney general, Manglona was an associate judge of the Commonwealth Superior Court for eight years before Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan recommended her to President Obama last April.
She obtained her B.A from the University of California at Berkeley in 1990, and her J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1996.
