Teen arrested for throwing rocks at drinking buddy

Superior Court Judge Kenneth L. Govendo yesterday ordered the release of Darren upon posting a $5,500 unsecured or appearance bond.

Darren was ordered to stay away from his victim and a witness in this case.

He was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, and minor consuming alcohol.

Darren appeared before Govendo for his initial appearance and bail hearing yesterday morning.

Assistant Attorney General Russel Lorfing represented the government while the court appointed Assistant Public Defender Matt Meyer as Darren’s counsel.

In the complaint filed in court, Detective Jonathan SN. Decena said the Department of Public Safety dispatched an officer to a reported disturbance incident at the residence of Erwin Santos, located south of Shany Laundry in Chalan Kanoa.

Police said Santos and his friends, Darren, and Tolove Bokuku, 21, were drinking inside Santos’ room, but later threw rocks at each other outside.

Santos told police that Bokuku and Darren had a misunderstanding, and  he left the two inside his room to avoid being involved.

While police were investigating the incident, Darren was yelling and cursing at an officer.

Darren was also described as being very irate, Decena said.

A witness told police that she saw Darren holding a rock and appeared to be challenging Bokuku to a fight.

Darren threw a rock at Bokuku but missed.

Bokuku got angry and also began throwing rocks at Darren. They continued throwing rocks at each other until police were called.

No one was reported injured, police said.
