But NMC President Carmen Fernandez said they will try to protect or retain their nonresident manpower who are are experts in their fields.
Fernandez said one immediate impact of federalization will be a reduction of the student population.
She said when the new federal regulations are put in place, students from other places will have difficulty in meeting them.
“But we will always welcome international students with open arms and we hope to continue to recruit students,” Fernandez said.
The college has a student population of over 900.
Fernandez, who was the Rotary Club’s guest speaker at the Hyatt Regency, said NMC is now “standing on solid ground” following the visit of the accreditation team from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges.
She said the visit was to follow up on plans that NMC submitted and the progress it has made in addressing recommendations for improvement.
NMC, she added, is now waiting for the acceptance of the mid-term report submitted last month to the commission.
