Government agencies attend pandemic preparedness training

The Alabam-based Center for Domestic Preparedness facilitated the three-day course on  pandemic influenza at the Saipan World Resort.

Participants were from the Commonwealth Health Center, the Department of Public Health, private clinics,  and the Medical Association of the Pacific.

There were also participants from the Office of the Homeland Security, the Emergency Management Office, the Department of Public Safety, the Public School System, the Division of Environmental Quality, Rota, Tinian and the Transportation Security Agency.

The seminar discussed the challenges and the features of the community planning to  effectively respond to a pandemic influenza event.

“There were 61 participants and 53  completed the seminar and received certification,” said Patricio F. Tudela, Office of Homeland Security training coordinator.
