‘Federally funded agencies should pay their utilities’

Attorney Teresa Kim, legal counsel of the lt. governor, met with the members of House Ways and Means Committee yesterday to raised concern   about how the $9.1 million is proposed to be allotted for government utilities.

Kim said instead of getting their share from the general fund, federally funded agencies should use federal funds to pay their own utilities.

A staffer of an autonomous agency told Variety that they are willing to pay their utilities using federal funds, “but just don’t interfere with us on how we manage our agency,” he said, referring to the Fitial administration.

Kim also noted other “inconsistencies” in the language of the fiscal year 2011 budget regarding the reprogramming of some funds that the administration wants lawmakers to clarify.
