The permanent secretary for information, Lt. Col. Neumi Leweni, has said that the regulation will be extended by another month.
He added that “it would probably be there for the rest of the year.”
Leweni said that Fiji has benefited from the emergency regulation since it was first imposed following the abrogation of Fiji’s Constitution last April 10.
Under the regulation, police, military and civil servants have the powers to stop events and functions they deem to be a threat to the security of the community and the nation.
