SUVA (Pacnews) — A member of the Fiji committee organizing this month’s African Caribbean Summit is in Brussels seeking extra funding from the European Union, Radio Fiji reports.
Coordinator of the ACP Planning Committee, Emitai Boladuadua, has gone to ask the EU for a donation of F$1.5 million ($698,000). While there, he is also expected to finalize with officials at the EU headquarters finer details concerning the Summit. The Fiji government has allocated F$2.5 million ($1.16 million) towards the meeting, which they estimate would cost F$4 million ($1.86 million).
