Fitial said he will take up several issues concerning the CNMI during the governors meeting, including immigration.
The governor said he will be very busy with about seven meetings scheduled for each day during his one-week official trip.
He told reporters that he will hand a resolution to Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan asking for a congressional amendment to allow the 702 funds provided to the CNMI to be used for other government operations.
“The 702 funding is a funding allotted only for construction under capital improvement projects, and a congressional amendment will allow us to use it for other operations,” Fitial said.
After his official trip to Washington, D.C., Fitial said he will proceed to Los Angeles for a medical check-up.
When asked when he is scheduled to be back, the governor said it all depends on the result of his medical check-up.
