FSM’s Mori wants passport processing decentralized

revolving funds so it can finance the decentralization of passport processing.

Mori wants to start the decentralization of passport processing in Chuuk, Guam and Hawaii as soon as possible and no later than this year.

Yap, Kosrae and other FSM overseas missions will follow as part of the second phase of the project.

It is the hope of Mori that when the passport decentralization is completed, FSM citizens could simply go to the immigration field offices or consulates and drop off their passport applications, then come back later and pick up their new passports.

The goal here is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability as well as improve the services to FSM citizens, Mori said.
