Gas now $3.92 a gallon

Unleaded gas  now costs $3.92 a gallon; premium,  $4.22; and diesel, $4.09.

Shell raised its prices on Friday.

Raymond M. Sablan, a firefighter at the airport, said it’s “ridiculous” that on top of government pay cuts, the people of the commonwealth will now have to pay  more for gas.

“I guess I have to adjust now my daily consumption,” said Sablan who bought $20 worth of gasoline yesterday afternoon for his  SUV.

He said he usually purchases $10 everyday when he drops off and picks  his wife who works at the Department of Commerce.

Now, he estimates he has to pay $15 for gasoline each day.

However, he is grateful that they are back on regular working hours after almost a year of “sacrificing” working hours.

He said the savings that his workplace earned after implementing austerity measures allowed a return to regular work hours.

Asked about the gasoline price increase, Francisco Omar Kapileo, a farmer, said: “What can I do? I have no choice but to adjust. It’s something I cannot argue about. Who knows, increasing their price might help the economy as a whole.”

Brett Halstead, general helper of Wonder Sea Diving, said his company pays for his gasoline.

He believes it is going to be “hard” for his employer this time.

“I think I have to inform them about this today,” said Halstead who bought 30 gallons of gasoline yesterday for the company’s boats.

Ponce Capalad, a construction worker, could only shrug his shoulders when he saw the new gasoline prices.

“I have no choice. I cannot reduce my consumption because it is how much I need every day from home to work,” said Capalad who bought $20 worth of gasoline.
