But school president Susan Deblois said they are still accepting enrollees for all grade levels.
“Golden Harvest International School offers a whole year round program, which means parents can enroll their children even classes have resumed,” Deblois said.
With teachers taking care of all the students from Day Care to the grade school, Deblois said the school has the advantage of a high teacher to student ratio.
“This means that we can give more attention and care so our students can learn as best as they can,” she said.
Golden Harvest International School prides itself on having highly qualified teachers who are serious in their commitment to the students.
Music classes
New to Golden Harvest International School this year in addition to the regular subjects is the music classes that are integrated into the curriculum.
Deblois said they have taught music before, but this year, they are introducing musical instruments such as piano, organ, guitar and drums.
“Some parents spend extra dollars to enroll their children in music schools, but at Golden Harvest International School, we are now offering it as part of the curriculum,” she said.
The music classes are available for students from the first to the sixth grade.
High teacher-student ratio
Deblois said that what makes Golden Harvest International School stand out from other private learning institutions is that the school maintains a small number of students in every grade level.
“Our standard is one teacher for every 15 students, and this is ideal so we can attend to each child’s needs and facilitate learning much better,” she said.
Highly qualified teachers, staff
Parents who enroll their kids at Golden Harvest International School & Day Care can be assured that their children are in good hands and come out as well-rounded individuals, not only academically but socially and spiritually.
Deblois said some of the teachers in the Day Care department are parents themselves with valuable experience in bringing up children, even infants.
After school care
Golden Harvest International School offers one more advantage especially to working parents.
Deblois said grade school students whose classes end at 2:30 p.m. can enroll in the After School Care program where they can stay around and do their homework as they wait for their parents to pick them up.
She said that as most of the parents finish work at 5 p.m., the after school care helps the students utilize the two and a half hours of waiting in the school.
“They can do their homework under the supervision of teachers whom they can ask for help if they need assistance and rest afterwards. This way, they won’t have to do their assignments at home and use the time to bond with their families,” she said.
The After School Program also provides room for socialization to the child.
Academic excellence
Over the years, students at Golden Harvest International School have excelled in various academic competitions such as the forensic competitions, Spelling Bee, Parade of Books, Mathcourt and other events not only on Saipan but also on Guam, bringing home medals and awards as proof that the school is getting way ahead toward reaching its goal of providing academic excellence.
Golden Harvest International School & Daycare is located on Ghiyeghi Street in San Jose.
