Governor OKs $42K Tinian spending measure

GOVERNOR David M. Apatang on Friday approved a $42,000 spending measure for Tinian.

Authored by Rep. Patrick San Nicolas, House Bill 24-20 is now Tinian Local Law 24-6. It appropriates $42,000 in poker fees as follows:

• $30,000 for the Tinian Mayor’s Office, including $20,000 for operations, personnel, professional services, and public programs, and $10,000 for the mayor’s discretionary fund.

• $3,000 for the Tinian Municipal Council’s public programs and office operations.

• $4,000 for the Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation.

• $5,000 for the Tinian Casino Gaming Control Commission.

Department of Finance Resident Head Milissa Mendiola has informed Tinian Mayor Edwin P. Aldan that Long Sheng Corporation, the operator of poker machines on Tinian, has paid $84,000 for the renewal of licenses for seven poker machines.

In accordance with Tinian Local Law 23-10, the annual local license fee available for Tinian is $42,000.
