The decision came in the wake of the Senate’s inaction regarding his nomination three months after it was submitted to the Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Government Investigations.
“This appointment requires the advice and consent of the Senate. It is with deep regret to inform you that I have no choice but to withdraw his name as my appointee at this time,” Fitial told Senate President Pete P. Reyes, R-Saipan.
Taitano would have replaced Regent Linza F. Lizama.
Taitano used to be a member of the State Board of Parole.
