Two years ago, after three children were reported to have been injured in the area, teams from Coastal Resources Management and the Department of Public Works demolished the dilapidated structure that was used as a diving plank by swimmers.
But up to now, said Jun Sablan, one of the Pantalan Boys, the government has not repaired the other dilapidated portion of the dock.
“It needs to be repaired because the foundation is now obsolete — it was built during the Japanese era,” he added.
He said the government will be liable if something happens to the people using the dock.
“We need a preventive measure,” he added, as he strongly urged CRM and DPW to immediately repair the dock’s damaged portion.
Sablan also reminded the government about its project to establish at least three pavilions in the area.
He showed to Variety the billboard installed during the election period which provided details about the project.
“Maybe they put that billboard for decoration…it’s like a political gimmick,” he said.
