On Thursday, the Judicial Council passed a writ of mandate resolution authorizing the “Chief justice and the administrator of courts to take such steps as are necessary to enforce the right of the judiciary to receive its proportionate allotment from the Department of Administration.”
Chief Justice Philip Carbullido, during the meeting, asked that they be treated fairly and be allotted what is due to the judiciary.
Maria Cenzon, director for policy planning and community relations, told the Variety the council was prompted to pass the resolution because of DOA’s continued failure to remit allotments in a timely manner as mandated in P.L. 30-177.
Cenzon said the judiciary is supposed to receive $21,698,796, but they only had $16,738,470 transferred over on June 30. They are due $4,960,326.
