The event, which will be held in the Sans Souci Hall from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Nov. 21 is a chance for artists and vendors to showcase their works of art to the community.
“We are looking forward to another year of showcasing the island’s arts, crafts and gifts,” Heather Kennedy, one of the organizers said.
She said that a few tables are still available for any interested artists or vendors. Interested vendors may contact the school at tel. no. 323-STAR (323-7827)
Kennedy said that in the past, shoppers have commented on the convenience and comfort of finding such a variety of island gifts in a single place ahead of the holidays.
She said that the Holiday Bazaar has been likened to a mini-Flame Tree Arts Festival but located indoors with the amenities like air-conditioning.
Arts shoppers can expect to find this year’s showcase including the ceramics of Nancy Provido, the paintings of Greg Elliott, the handmade jewelry of artists Kathryn Fuller, Nava Khorram and Leila Staffler, the island jams of Deece Revilla, and the crafts, carvings and paintings of some of the island’s best know artists.
The guests will also be treated to performances from various community cultural and art groups during the day-long event. Among the performers will be the Doremi School of Music, Saipan Community School Ukelele Band, Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts, Keynotes School of Music, Angel’s International School of Dance, and The Saipan Grand Hotel Singing Superstars Champion.
Lina Villagomez, a member of the organizing committee said the the Holiday Bazaar had been held at the Multipurpose Center in Susupe in the past years but because the election commission but they had to move it to another venue as the Election Commission will be using the facility for the run-off election on Monday.
Villagomez said the group is thankful to the generosity of Palms Resort for offering the venue for the bazaar.
“We expect a vibrant crowd, as the ballet rehearsal and a health fair is being held there on the same day,” Villagomez said.
As a special treat for kids, she said that they will set up an arts and crafts area so that children can remain occupied during the day.
“We look forward to welcoming the community, once again, to this wonderful event which opens the holiday season,” said Kennedy.
There will be raffle draws with prizes generously donated by community businesses. Lucky winners can expect to take home water park passes at the Pacific Islands Club, a Motorola w377 GSM camera phone donated by Docomo, and gift certificates from Aqua Resort Club, Saipan Grand Hotel and expressions to name a few. Raffle drawings will be held hourly. Bento lunch boxes will also be available
