THE House of Representatives yesterday passed a measure that would appropriate $2.6 million for the Marianas Visitors Authority.
House Speaker Heinz S. Hofschneider, R-Saipan and the author of H.B. 13-138, said additional funding is needed by MVA as its budgetary cut of over $2 million “has rendered it unable to launch an aggressive promotional campaign.”
He said Gov. Juan N. Babauta recently transmitted to the presiding officers of the Legislature the CNMI Tourism Strategy Plan developed by MVA.
He said MVA also formulated a promotional program to tap the China and South Korean markets.
