Omengkar, 38, has been charged with possession and trafficking of controlled substance, and conspiracy. Her jury trial starts on Nov. 7, 2011. She has denied the charges.
For her new case, Judge Perry B. Inos imposed a $10,000 cash bail on Omengkar.
Inos found probable cause for the arrest and continued detention of Omengkar.
The defendant was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after her Gerstein hearing yesterday morning.
Police told the court that during a random check on Tuesday, Omengkar was not found at her mother’s house.
Omengkar and her co-defendant former police officer Florencio Richards, who was off-duty at that time, were arrested last July by the CNMI Joint Drug Task Force for possession and trafficking of “ice.”
The charges against Richards have been dismissed without prejudice as moved by the Attorney General’s Office.
Richards has admitted federal charges of conspiracy to distribute 0.94 grams net weight of d-methamphetamine hydrochloride, distribution of “ice,” and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Richards is currently on pretrial release pending his sentencing in May.
