‘Idol Part 2 Showdown’ at street market tonight

Event coordinator and choreographer Sharmaine Casquero said she is very happy DCCA gave them another chance after their “showdown” at the street market a few months back.

“This is a great chance for our young kids not only to showcase their skills in dancing but also to encourage other kids to join more physical activities such as dancing,” Casquero said.

She said tonight’s performers will highlight the hip-hop and street dancing techniques of Project Impact, Shonique

Dance, Final Destination, Next Generation, Rock-a-Beat Kings and other groups.

Casquero said two little children — Danielle Angela Bañez and Alyana Macaranas — will also participate.

Casquero said  the first time they performed at the street market was a huge success which resulted in more young people forming their own dance groups.

“We have more kids now wanting to join the different dance groups, and others are forming their own teams. This is encouraging especially on an island with a high rate of diabetes and obesity,” Casquero added.

She is inviting the community to come and watch “Idol Part 2 Showdown” tonight on Coral Tree Avenue in Garapan.

“Please come and watch because this is something new and different than the regular cultural dancing shows at the street market,” Casquero said.
