Divine Sotto of Biz Aid Saipan said they want to accommodate stall owners who have already paid their rents and to make all their products available to the public on the two special days.
“Even though these two holidays fall on a Saturday, we will continue operations so you are all free to come and buy the cheapest items on island,” Sotto said.
Since its launching in October 2008, the International Flea Market has become a regular Saturday destination for those seeking cheap used and brand new items including household goods, clothes, shoes, kitchen utensils, electronic items, jewelry, books, toys, curtains, trinkets, and everything else — including food items from the Gentle Brook Restaurant and the Revolving 360 Restaurant.
Residents who are leaving the island or are just planning to clean their closets have made the International Flea Market the best place to sell their items.
Over 30 regular vendors are occupying the stalls each Saturday. Sotto said more vendors wanted to display their wares but space is limited and others have to wait until there’s a vacancy.
Sotto said they haven’t revived the night bazaar.
“We are planning to reopen the night bazaar as soon as we get some things cleared up, so we can continue to serve our clients who cannot make it to the flea market during the day time,” Sotto said.
