FSM President Emanuel Mori and his Palau counterpart Johnson Toribiong are both scheduled to arrive in Yap on Friday, Feb. 26.
Their arrival will be three days prior to the opening ceremony on Monday, March 1, but still in time for the pre-Yap Day celebrations during the weekend.
The Yap Day Organizing Committee has requested that business establishments and other nonprofit organizations on island accommodate the guests by sponsoring different activities in those three days, as they wait for the official opening of the event.
The committee requested that the businesses sponsor some activities such as local dances, traditional sailing and fishing trips, and other activities that would be ongoing throughout the weekend and prior to the actual celebration begin on March 1.
Members of the diplomatic corps in the Federated States of Micronesia will also be traveling to Yap next week.
