Assistant Attorney General Shelli Neal, the prosecutor, filed a motion to revoke bail and forfeit the cash bond posted by Ali, and a separate motion opposing the defendant’s motion for bail modification.
Ali was charged for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace of his partner on Dec. 30, 2010.
While on pretrial release months later after posting $200 cash bail, Ali again assaulted his partner on March 30, 2011.
A criminal contempt charge was also filed against Ali for violating the conditions of his pretrial release involving the Dec. 30 assault charges.
Ali failed to post $2,250 cash bail for his second complaint.
“Regardless of his ability or inability to post the current bail amount, [Ali’s] behavior of continuing to commit crimes while on bail against the same victim no less, makes a mockery of the court’s leniency in allowing him a reduced bail when arrested in the first case,” Neal stated in her motion.
Further, Neal said Ali “displays a callous disregard for the safety, peace, and well being of his wife and child and for the laws of the commonwealth.”
“Violence often escalates when a victim reports domestic abuse and/or seeks help. Defendant Ali poses a continuing danger to this community, and especially to [the victim],” the prosecutor added.
