The defendant, who will turn 17 this November, was scheduled to be arraigned before Presiding Judge Roberto Naraja on Monday at 3 p.m., but this was moved to Wednesday.
The defendant was remanded to the juvenile detention facility after failing to come up with the $250,000 cash bail for his release.
Variety also learned that the criminal division of the Office of the Attorney General is carefully considering filing a motion to move the juvenile case to an adult court now that probable cause has been established.
The AG’s office is charging the juvenile with sexual assault, assault with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and burglary.
In a previous statement, chief prosecutor John Bradley stated that the delay in the arrest of the juvenile suspect was due to DNA process testing by the Federal Bureau of Investigation at its lab in Quantico.
On June 2, 2019, the Department of Public Safety reported that a woman was seriously hurt in a home invasion incident in San Vicente.
DPS stated that “the female victim fought back as the suspect struck [her] several times before she lost consciousness.”
Once the victim regained consciousness, she called 911 for assistance, and was later taken to the hospital, DPS added.
