However, secondary education institutions must be accredited, thus, those eligible to apply are Northern Marianas College and Eucon International College.
Sablan said all these two schools need to do is apply for the grants.
Fitial, in his letter to Sablan last month, noted that the CNMI and other insular areas do not qualify for the $2.5 million funding base.
According to Sablan, “With our small populations, which is one-tenth of that of the smallest state, it can be challenging for the insular areas to justify a state share of funding.” Still, “I am constantly working to obtain state minimum funding under a wide range of federal programs already available to the Marianas and to be included in programs not yet open to us.”
