This year’s committee chairman Jonas Barcinas said there will be grand marshals from all the four municipalities.
In previous celebrations, there was only one grand marshal, and he or she was from Saipan.
During yesterday’s committee meeting, Tina Pangelinan, Liberation Queen Committee chairwoman, reported that there were already eight candidates for Liberation Day queen, including the Filipino and Paluan communities.
The Japanese community is also interested to join but has yet to confirm its participation, Pangelinan said.
The Liberation Day committee will announce the official candidates next week.
Lisa Flores, Liberation Day concession committee chairwoman, reported that 23 vendors had applied for booth concessions.
The deadline for application is May 21, she said.
The committee has yet to finalize an agreement with the “Beer Garden” vendors.
Barcinas said they are still waiting for the release of the Liberation Day funds.
However, he added, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has already readied the installation of a power meter at the Liberation activity center in Garapan.
The committee will charge all vendors a flat rate since CUC will install one master meter only.
This year’s members of the Liberation Day committee are Barcinas, chairman, Gordon Marciano, vice chairman;
Vinycia Seman and Lucy Sablan, secretaries; Terry Camacho, treasurer; Lisa Flores, committee on concession chairwoman; Tina Pangelinan, committee on queen chairwoman; Bill Bezzant, committee on site and layout and site permits and clearance chairman; Epi Cabrera and Del Sablan, public relations and solicitation committee in-charge;
