Limtiaco is new US attorney for Guam, NMI

The U.S. Senate passed Limtiaco’s nomination by unanimous consent.

President Obama submitted her nomination on Feb. 24, 2010.

Limtiaco is the first woman to be elected attorney general of Guam.

In addition to prioritizing criminal prosecutions, she  initiated public education initiatives to stimulate public interest and increase awareness of Guam’s laws and legal processes.

She took particular interest and worked intensely in the prevention of internet crimes against children, identity theft and cyber security.

Prior to her election as attorney general, Limtiaco served for more than seven years in the prosecution division of the AGO.

As a prosecutor, and acting chief prosecutor, she participated in, and supervised, the work of attorneys and other legal staff in the prosecution of numerous adult criminal felony and misdemeanor cases, including homicides, criminal sexual conduct, family violence, aggravated assaults and other violent crimes involving drugs and firearms, as well as, civil and property crimes.

She placed new emphasis on the investigation, prosecution and prevention of white collar crime.

Earning her juris doctor degree in 1990 from the University of California in Los Angeles, Limitaco is a member of the Bar Associations in Guam and California where she has been in public and private practice for over 15 years.

An avid educator, she served as adjunct faculty and assistant professor with the University of Guam’s College of Professional Studies, School of Business, Public Administration and Legal Studies.

She taught at the UOG for over seven years and at  Guam Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Academy and Criminal Justice Program for over six years.
