Lizama, Tenorio camps explain no-show at forum

The Coalition for Recognition, Equality and Advancement of American Ethnic Minorities invited John Oliver DLR. Gonzales, former Judge Juan T. Lizama, former Election Commissioner Executive Director Gregorio C. Sablan and Washington Rep. Pete A. Tenorio to the forum.

Only Sablan showed up.

Former Sen. Ramon S. Guerrero, Lizama’s campaign manager, said they received the invitation a day before the date of the forum, which was too late because the former judge had already made other commitments.

Guerrero said no one among the organizers notified them about the forum.

He said they also didn’t like the idea of inviting only four candidates to forum.

Nine are running for the congressional delegate’s post.

“It’s unfair for the five other candidates not to be included just because just because they trailed in the mock election,” he said.

CREAM earlier held a mock election, which was topped by Gonzales. Sablan, Lizama and Tenorio were the other candidates who garnered most of the votes.

Rep. Joseph C. Reyes, Tenorio’s campaign manager, said there was no way the Republican candidate could attend the forum because they were on Rota for its fiesta celebration over the weekend.
