Finance-Revenue & Taxation announces tax relief

(Press Release) — The Department of Finance, Division of Revenue and Taxation, announces tax relief for individuals and businesses affected by Super Typhoon Sinlaku.

Following the state of emergency declared by Gov. David M. Apatang and the federal disaster declaration issued on April 11, 2026, the secretary of Finance has authorized the postponement of certain income tax deadlines.

This relief is granted pursuant to NMTIT §7508A.

As a result, affected individuals and businesses will have until Oct. 15, 2026, to file returns and pay certain income taxes due within the designated relief period.

The Oct. 15, 2026, deadline applies to individual income tax returns and estimated tax payments due within the relief period. For example, an individual income tax return normally due on April 15, 2026, is now due on Oct. 15, 2026. Estimated tax payments normally due on June 15, 2026, are also due on Oct. 15, 2026.

This relief does not apply to:

• Business Gross Revenue Tax,

• Wage and Salary Tax,

• other non-NMTIT obligations, and

• Payroll Withholding.

This relief also does not apply to tax returns, payments, or other tax obligations that were due before April 11, 2026.

If a taxpayer receives a late filing or billing notice from DRT on an applicable return that falls within the designated relief period, the taxpayer should contact our office to request a penalty abatement.
