FUEL price signs on Saipan were knocked down by Super Typhoon Sinlaku. By Saturday morning, fuel prices had also declined as residents lined up for supplies in the storm’s aftermath.

From $6.31 a gallon following a rollback at the onset of the 175-mph typhoon earlier last week, Mobil Oil’s regular gasoline dropped to $6.11 a gallon. Supreme gasoline fell to $6.56 a gallon from $6.76, while diesel decreased to $8.13 a gallon from $8.83.

On Tinian, gasoline was priced at $8.439 a gallon on Sunday, while diesel stood at $11.23 a gallon.

On Rota, gasoline was $7.69 a gallon and diesel was $10.77 a gallon.

Saipan Mayor Ramon Blas “RB” Camacho said that while the fuel price decrease is good news, many residents may not immediately benefit as they continue to deal with the typhoon’s impact.

He said he saw many people lining up at gas stations, still frustrated by the situation.

“I ask the community to please stay calm and be patient when lining up for gas,” the mayor said.
