Judiciary mourns passing of employee Bryan S. Bocago

THE CNMI Judiciary is saddened by the passing of a valued employee, Special Projects and Infrastructure Coordinator Bryan Sablan Bocago, on June 6, 2026.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the Judiciary highlighted Bryan’s service with a memorial ceremony in the CNMI Supreme Court courtroom. In attendance were Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro, Justice John A. Manglona, Justice Roberto C. Naraja, Presiding Judge Joseph N. Camacho, Judge Kenneth L. Govendo, Judge Lillian Ada Tenorio, and Judge Joey P. San Nicolas.  Judiciary staff and Bryan’s family packed the courtroom.

The ceremony included remarks from Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro, Justice John A. Manglona and Presiding Judge Joseph N. Camacho. Deputy Director of Courts Martha Standish, who worked closely with Bryan on special projects and programs during his time with the Judiciary, presented a tribute, weaving together words and pictures in a moving remembrance. She detailed his accomplishments and the qualities in him everyone could admire — his constancy, his humor, his thoughtfulness.

Speaking for the entire Judiciary, she said, “Bry, thank you for your service, your kindness, your humor, and the memories you gave us. We are grateful for the time we had with you, and you will be missed.”

Bryan was also a talented musician whose creativity and passion for music were an important part his identity. While recounting his musical performance at the 2023 Judiciary Summit, Standish said, “we were seeing a side of Bry that he did not often show at the work, not the quiet coordinator tracking deadlines and projects, but the musician, the performer, and the person who carried a whole world of creativity and talent inside of him.”

As part of the memorial, the Judiciary presented the family with a plaque and a framed photo of the Judiciary staff alongside Bryan. In response, Bryan’s mother, Florence C. Sablan, shared her heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their enduring friendship and dedication to her son.

Bryan brought his extensive experience with him when he joined the Judiciary in 2021. He served as specialty courts coordinator before joining the American Rescue Plan Act Program as Special Projects and Infrastructure Coordinator. He also served on the Strategic Leadership Committee, Annual Report Committee, ARPA Committee, and Courthouse Security Grant Project Committee. Bryan assisted in designing resources to teach core emotional intelligence skills and promote teamwork and communication across the Judiciary. He was respected by his colleagues for his quiet dedication to his work and steady approach to his duties.

Bryan built a career in public service. After completing his studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, he returned to Saipan and worked with the Public School System as a classroom teacher from 2000 to 2003. He later worked as a special assistant with the Community Guidance Center for two years before continuing his service with the Northern Marianas Housing Corporation as the special assistant for Housing and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit programs for seven years.
