USAFA’s Maratita selected as sole STEP promotee for 2025

(Press Release) — The United States Air Force Academy and the 10th Air Base Wing proudly announce the STEP or Stripes for Exceptional Performers promotion of Technical Sgt. Consuelo C. Maratita, assigned to the 10th Medical Group, 10th MDSS in Colorado Springs, Colorado. TSgt Maratita was selected as USAFA’s only STEP promotee, a distinction that highlights her exceptional performance and leadership.

A native of the island of Rota in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, TSgt Maratita is a proud graduate of Rota High School. She is the daughter of Luzon and Esperansa Cruz, and is married to Darryl Mark A. Maratita. Together, they share one child, Callie Sage C. Maratita. Her roots, family values, and island upbringing continue to shape her dedication, work ethic, and commitment to service.

STEP promotions are among the rarest and most competitive advancement avenues in the United States Air Force. With only one STEP quota allocated to USAFA this year, TSgt Maratita’s selection reflects the trust and confidence placed in her by senior leaders, as well as her consistent record of excellence.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to be chosen as USAFA’s sole STEP promotee,” said TSgt Maratita. “This achievement reflects the incredible support of my leadership, mentors, and teammates. I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given within the 10th ABW and 10th MDG, and I remain committed to serving with the highest standards of integrity and dedication.”

In addition to this prestigious promotion, TSgt Maratita was named the 2025 DRU Laboratory NCO of the Year, a testament to her significant contributions to medical readiness, laboratory operations, and mission success across the Academy.

As she steps into her role as Technical Sergeant, Maratita will continue to bring professionalism, experience, and a steadfast commitment to the Air Force’s core values of Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.
