Man arrested for punching former girlfriend

Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja imposed a $1,500 bail on the defendant, Erinie N. Alden, 35.

Naraja found Alden to be indigent during the defendant’s initial appearance yesterday afternoon.

Alden is being held on the charge of disturbing the peace, criminal mischief, and assault and battery.

Naraja required Alden to post a $750 cash bail, and the remaining $750 in unsecured bond.

The court appointed Assistant Public Defender Richard Milller as Alden’s counsel while Assistant Attorney General Peter Prestley represented the government.

Naraja remanded Alden to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing.

In his affidavit, Detective Steven A. Castro said DPS received an emergency call about a domestic violence in progress in Lower Base, in the Charlie Dock area on Sunday morning.

Police Officer Murphy Paul responded, and met the victim whose facial area appeared to be swollen.

Police said Alden came to the cabin of his former girlfriend at Charlie Dock, and kicked the victim’s face, and choked her.

Alden also broke a fishing vessel’s wooden door after he punched it, police said.

Police  arrested Alden on same day after he was spotted in a Puerto Rico residential area.
