Jerry Ray
THE Department of Public Safety has arrested 32-year-old Jerry Ray for threatening to rob BankPacific in Garapan.
Ray was arrested by officers from the Criminal Investigation Bureau in the afternoon of July 9, according to Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop.
“Preliminary reports indicate that a male individual stood at the entrance of the bank at around 11 a.m. and stated he was going to rob the bank. The same person later claimed he was joking before leaving,” Manacop said.
After reviewing surveillance footage, detectives identified the suspect as Jerry Ray — a convicted felon who previously served time at the Department of Corrections.
“Detectives later made contact with Jerry Ray at the Century Hotel in Garapan and arrested him for the threat he made at BankPacific. He was booked and detained at the Department of Corrections,” Manacop said.
DPS reminds the public that threats — especially those involving banks — will be taken seriously, regardless of intent.
“Offenders will be charged to the fullest extent of the law,” Manacop said. “As this case involved a bank, federal authorities were also notified of the incident.”
As of press time on Thursday afternoon, no formal charges had been filed against Ray in Superior Court.
