According to Department of Public Safety acting information officer PO2 Jason T. Tarkong, the 19-year-old victim was with members of a basketball team in one of the rooms at Aquarius Hotel at about 1 a.m. on March 14 when the suspect “walked in and started causing trouble.”
Tarkong said police went to the Commonwealth Health Center and talked to the victim at about past 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Based on preliminary investigation, the suspect slapped the teenagers who were at the party, including the victim’s cousin.
Tarkong said the victim tried to stop the suspect from hitting his cousin, but another suspect came and punched him several times.
A fistfight ensued between the two suspects, the victim and his cousin.
Tarkong said the victim and his cousin tried to escape and headed toward the elevator but the two suspects went after them, resulting in another fight near the elevator doors.
The cousins eventually escaped through the elevators and fled from the area.
No arrest has been made yet, but Tarkong said police already have two suspects — an adult and a juvenile.
“Investigation is still going on in this case. We have yet to gather all the evidence and accounts from all witnesses [we need] before we make an arrest,” Tarkong said.
