Ali, 38, signed a global plea agreement for the two cases, and admitted assault and battery, and disturbing the peace of his partner.
Judge Kenneth L. Govendo originally imposed a total of 17 months imprisonment on Ali, all suspended except for 45 days time already served at the Department of Corrections facility.
Should Ali violate the terms of his probation for committing another crime of domestic violence, Govendo said the remaining months of this suspended sentence will be re-imposed.
Ali was placed on three years probation and will pay a $100 fine, court costs and probation fees. He will complete 100 hours of community work service, undergo and complete drug and alcohol treatment as well as anger management counseling.
Assistant Attorney General Shelli Neal prosecuted the case, while Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartig served as counsel for Ali.
On Dec. 30, 2010, Ali punched the back of the head of his common-law wife five times and chased her, the plea agreement stated.
Ali assaulted his common-law wife for giving away parts of their broken ice box, police said.
On March 30, 2011, Ali slapped his partner so hard it made her ears ring. This was when she went to an internet café near their residence where her common-law husband was hanging out.
