Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro told the media that they received a report on Sunday afternoon about the possible drowning accident involving Renato Alcantara.
Ogumoro said preliminary investigation showed that the victim was swimming with two companions. Later, the two companions noticed the victim floating face down in the water.
Ogumoro said the two companions brought the victim ashore where a woman assisted and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the victim until he regained consciousness.
Medics arrived at the scene an transported the victim to the Commonwealth Health Center for further treatment and observation.
The victim was released on Monday morning.
Ogumoro said police were unable to identify the woman who administered CPR as she immediately left the area.
It was learned that the victim fainted while swimming and retained fluid in his lungs as a result of the near drowning incident.
