In his letter, Manglona noted that the dialysis center was completed almost three years ago but has yet to operate.
He wants to hear what has been done to move a head with the plan for the Rota dialysis center.
In a telephone interview, Manglona said over 10 dialysis patients from Rota have been staying on Saipan for too long due to the lack of an operable dialysis center on Rota.
These patients, he said, have left behind their families on Rota for many years now and are “carrying financial burdens.”
He said he believes the healthcare corp. can send a nephrologist to Rota at least on a part-time basis.
To get the center running, the corporation can also bring in other staffers such as a nutritionist, he added.
It’s just a matter of providing training, Manglona said.
In his letter, Manglona requested Babauta to ask a nephrologist to visit the Rota dialysis center for assessment and recommendations on the needed professional staff to operate it.
“I am certain that you empathize with these patients and their families as I am also confident that your office with a group of professionals will begin planning the future of the center in order to move forward with project,” Manglona said.
