Aguon was named Citizen of the Year, the highest annual award given by the club to a community member.

Max Aguon “It encourages me to continue serving the people,” he said, adding that he is also hoping that the award will motivate other individuals to participate in community-oriented activities.
Aguon said his family and friends celebrated his achievement. “I am so happy that the Rotarians gave me this award,” he added. “I was inspired to continue my work.”
Aguon has also been honored by the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance, Coastal Resource Management, Beautify CNMI, the local House of Representatives and U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan for Aguon’s active involvement in preserving the environment through his regular voluntary cleanup activities.
Every weekend, Aguon and some of his friends pick up trash in public areas, including beaches, from San Antonio to Marpi.
He also conducts regular cleanups at the Chalan Kanoa cemetery.
