“Today, we celebrate Labor Day to, first, remember those who toiled and sacrificed so much to bring about reforms in labor law, the treatment of laborers and others, and, second, to remember those among us who give so much to improve and protect our lives,” he said.
The mayor expressed his appreciation to all workers who have generously put in beyond what is expected of them.
He also expressed his gratitude to CNMI first responders, frontline workers, doctors, nurses, caregivers, and federal partners.
“Thank you so much for the commitment and sacrifices you have made to keep our residents and visitors safe during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
He said the dedication of these workers will be remembered in perpetuity.
Apatang said some — especially business partners, non-profit partners and individuals — have dedicated their time and efforts to improving people’s lives.
“Your care and help have touched the hearts of many that needed them at the most uncertain time in our history,” the mayor said.
“We wish everyone a safe and cheerful Labor Day. Please stay safe, continue practicing the recommended guidelines for fighting against the invisible enemy, Covid-19,” he added.
