John Aldan, the mayor’s field office operation manager, said they will dismantle all the structures within this week.
The mayor’s office has assigned five personnel for the task while Victorino S. Cepeda, Northern Marianas Trades and Institute education director, sent three personnel from the carpentry class to help out.
They are Primo Jabehn, Joseph Aldan and Diego Kaipat.
Vinycia Seman, executive secretary of Mayor Donald G. Flores, said they will keep the materials for the next Liberation Day celebration.
“It took us a whole month to construct because of funding issues. We don’t want that to happen again,” she said.
She said they will treat the construction materials with chemicals so they will be preserved.
DPL told the mayor’s office to clear the area by Aug. 3.
Public Lands Secretary Oscar Babauta denied the mayor’s request to extend the use of the area for revenue generating community events, saying the fishing base is now under negotiation for long-term lease investment.
