Today, they will conclude the dog tagging in Garapan and resume the program next week at the Ada Gym for residents of Oleai and adjacent areas.
Lizama said they were able to register 512 dogs since they started on June 6.
“It’s a good turnout and we got great positive feedback,” he added.
He said majority of pet owners got the one-year license.
For neutered dogs, a one-year license fee costs $6; two years, $10; three years, $14; four years, $18; five years, $24.
For non-altered or non-neutered dogs, a one-year license fee costs $10; two years, $18; three years, $26; four years, $34; five years, $42.
For dogs owned by residents 60 years old and above, a one-year license fee costs $5; two years, $8; three years, $10; four years, $12; five years, $15.
Lizama said to avail of the senior citizen rate, the dog must be neutered.
Saipan Mayor Donald G. Flores said they also considered some suggestions and recommendations to simplify the process.
He said pet owners may or may not need bring their dogs for registration in the designated area.
Instead of bringing the dog for picture taking for information and record purposes, pet owners can use digital and electronic devices to transfer pictures of their pets.
“We tried to simplify the program to accommodate those who can’t bring their dogs because of transportation issue,” Flores said.
“We can download from their flash drive, camera or laptop. They can also send the picture to [email protected],” Lizama said.
Before coming to the registration site, pet owners should pay first at any of the following locations: the CNMI Treasury on Capital Hill, Rev & Tax at Joeten Dandan, and Guma Hustisia in Susupe.
Lizama said they are planning to conduct dog tagging during weekends to accommodate more registrations.
