Meat processing, financial planning classes for Filipino workers

In October, there will be four sessions for the meat processing class and the financial planning program offered by the Philippine Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

Welfare Office Reynaldo D. Tayag said the program is part of the Philippine government’s package of assistance and services to overseas Filipino workers.

Each session of the meat processing class will accommodate 40 participants at the Filipino Workers Resource Center at the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.

The class will start on Oct. 3 and will be held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As of Friday, close to 40  Filipino workers had already registered for the class, Tayag said.

Fiesta Resort and Spa chef Hermie B. Coronejo will conduct the meat processing class while Tayag will lecture on financial planning.

Tayag said he will discuss how a business organization can achieve its strategic goals and objectives.

In the meat processing class, participants will learn how to make embutido (meat loaf), tocino (cured meat), longganisa (sausage), burger, chicken ham and other processed meat products.

The students will have “hands-on” activities, Tayag said.

This month, the Philippine Consul General Office, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration are conducting  basic baking and basic computer operation classes.
