“Nothing Micro About Micronesia” will be staged during the Flame Tree Arts Festival at Garapan Fishing Base.
TEADA Productions, an off-island theater company, will debut its original play, “Nothing Micro About Micronesia,” during the Flame Tree Arts Festival at the Garapan Fishing Base at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 24. The public is invited to attend.
This will be the first time the play — which premiered in 2024 — is performed in an outdoor setting. The performance is free, non-ticketed, and open to the entire community.
TeAda Productions’ website states that the play was made with the contributions of members of the Micronesian communities in Hawaii who have lived in that state for multiple generations. It focuses on their experiences of discrimination and resilience.
TeAda describes itself as a “nomadic theater rooted in the stories of immigrants, refugees, and indigenous peoples.”
On Saturday, April 26, at 7 p.m. TeAda will stage an encore performance of the first half of the play. It will perform the second half of the play on Sunday, April 27 at 7 p.m.
They also invite residents to meet the cast and crew at the festival grounds.
