Starting Sept. 12, the Basic Computer Operation 1 course under Joucel Regilme of the Clifford Law Office will start at the Filipino Workers Resource Center at the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.
On Sept. 20, another computer operation class will begin under Cris Hilario of the Federal Ombudsman Office.
The training program, which is supported by the Philippine Consulate General, has been receiving applications since last year, said Labor representative Joan Lourdes D. Lavilla.
Regilme’s class is scheduled every Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. while Hilario’s class is held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon every Sunday.
There are 40 students for each class, Lavilla said.
She said applicants who have changed their contact numbers should call 235-3491.
The orientation for the computer courses will begin one hour before the class starts.
Welfare Office Reynaldo Tayag said the program is part of the services offered by the Philippine government to overseas workers who would like to venture into business.
On Sept. 6, Tayag said about 30 Filipino workers will participate in the baking course that will be conducted by Ofelia S. Lopez of Herman’s Bakeshop.
Last month, more that 120 workers completed the Nihonggo, basic sewing, computer and commercial cooking classes.
Last March, 44 completed the training on plan reading conducted by the Marianas Filipino Engineers and Architects Association.
Lavilla reiterated her appreciation to the instructors who volunteer their time in sharing their skills and talents with their fellow Filipino workers.
