Herman T. Guerrero, chairman of the board of governors of Northern Mariana Islands Museum of History and Culture, recently awarded certificates of appreciation to administrative officer Gina Wesley and physical plant manager James Macaranas, a media release said.
Wesley and Macaranas were recognized for their “years of dedicated service to the people of the CNMI and their museum.”
“In addition to performing the duties of their regular jobs, they were on the team that pitched in to make museum openings ‘happen.’ They enthusiastically pitched in when major cleaning was required after mud-laden floodwaters detoured through the Museum,” said Gigi York, the museum’s acting executive director.
York at the same time said the museum “will miss Genevieve Cabrera,” the former executive director who resigned in February in order to attend law school.
“She was a devoted and hard working leader and friend since she came to the museum in 1998, before the museum doors opened. We wish her the best,” York said.
Meanwhile, Linda Torres, the museum’s “very talented and resourceful” exhibits curator, has moved to another position within the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.
“Luckily, she will be assigned to work on special projects at the museum. Congratulations Linda and come back real soon!” York said.
The museum is looking for volunteers. “We welcome your assistance, either weekly or for a few hours on special occasions,” York said.
