THE CNMI Museum board of governors has decided to reannounce the vacancy for the executive director position’s due to the “confusion” regarding the selection process.
According to Board Chairman Herman T. Guerrero, legal questions prompted them to announce the vacancy to avoid further controversies.
One of the questions was: Should the board entertain the applications sent directly to the museum office or only those sent to the Personnel Office?
The rules dictate that all applications must be addressed to the Personnel Office.
Three applicants sent their applications to the museum, but 11 sent theirs to the Personnel Office.
Guerrero said the board also debated the number of applicants that will be on the shortlist.
“Some said it should be narrowed down to three while the Personnel Office said it should be five. There’s also a question of qualifications,” he said.
The board’s decision to reannounce the vacant position was made in consultation with Assistant Attorney General Cynthia Romano.
