MINA’s recent fundraiser, “Eating Out for the Environment,” raised over $1,100 and was sponsored by Saipan Grand Hotel’s AOI Restaurant, Chambre at Fiesta Resort, Shirley’s Coffee Shop, 360 Restaurant and Shenanigans.
Adopt-A-Bin
The program, in its second year, seeks sponsors to pay for the cost of green garbage bins as well as garbage disposal.
To date, bin renewal sponsorships total close to $1,000 from the sponsors of Asia Pacific Hotel, Brabu Pharmacy, CTSI, Docomo Pacific, Ericco Enterprises, Ideal Signs, IT&E, Marianas Trekking, Marianas Visitors Authority, Rotary Club of Saipan, Saipan Computer Services, Shell Marianas, Tan Holdings, Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan and the Visitors Channel.
MINA Mondays
Java Joe’s restaurant in Dandan has coined “MINA Mondays” as their contribution to help preserve the islands’ beauty.
Simply bring in a reusable mug and order a coffee, tea or smoothie and Java Joe’s will donate to MINA.
Tree planting
The Saipan Marianas Lion’s Club worked together with MINA on Oct. 30 to plant trees at Laolao beach as part of the Tasi-watch project.
The partnership program between MINA and government agencies intends to enhance near-shore marine management by involving residents in hands-on activities.

MINA welcomed its newly elected officers of Herminia Fusco, chairwoman; Frankie Eliptico, vice chairmain; Ron Smith, Sscretary; and Adelina Dimaano as treasurer.
